The author of Claws is a western Canadian veterinarian with absolutely no experience in treating camels.

(Addendum: I’ve had several questions about the name of this blog. It comes from a quote from  a kindrid spirit.

“I have felt cats rubbing their faces against mine and touching my cheek with claws carefully sheathed. These things, to me, are expressions of love.”   ~ James Herriot)

  1. Just saw your article “The Husbandry and Feeding of Veterinarians” posted by a fav vet service on FB (https://www.facebook.com/vets2u?fref=ts). Love the humor! Had to check out your blog and was overwhelmed by the James Herriot quote. Love the man, love his books, and originally fell in love with him through the British series All Creatures Great and Small. Thank you for your blog and I wish you the best in years to come. >^;^<

    • If I am one tenth the veterinarian that Alf Wight was when I die, I’ll die happy. I read everything he wrote when I was a kid. Amazing man.

  2. Felt compelled to comment. This post has made the rounds twelve times over on my Facebook feed from my vet friends. My partner was amazed that I’m not the only one whose lifestyle is exactly as you’ve described (I’d been trying to explain all these years!). Anyway, kudos to you for the much needed hilarity in what can usually be a tough lifestyle choice.
